TDS Skewers McCain in Best Bush Clone Montage To Date

Stewart begins the clip with a $300K+ Cindy McCain outfit that makes the Cash Money Millionaires look like scrubs. Then he points out the errant stagecraft (Walter Reid Middle school, Lindsey Graham extolling victory with a cemetery backdrop, etc), impales Palin for her 27 million dollars earmark panhandle and exposes the hypocrisy of Veterans mocking Kerry's Vietnam service at one RNC convention, while soaking up McCain's POW-ness at another.

But the best part is at 4:20 (coincidence) into the clip. In this segment, Daily Show probably takes the cake for Bush/McCain cloned footage montage. This is as ad-worthy as it gets.

More of the Same with McCain

I believe it will take a few days for Independents and some Republicans, who still have souls, to digest a few details from the Repug convention. For example, the Republicans forgot to mention how they are going to save the American economy. In fact, McCain and his surrogates demonstrated their intent to continue the economic policies that have caused Americans to lose 605,000 jobs just this year. Average family incomes are down $2,000 and buying power is as low as it has been in decades.

Republicans did not provide any substance on meat-and-potato issues like the economy, health care, dependence on oil, or the Iraq war. In the coming year, due to spiraling health care costs, employers will pass on higher premiums and deductibles to their employees, who are already feeling the pinch from spiraling fuel costs. In many cases, many more Americans will simply lose their health care coverage.

The Republicans couldn't keep Code Pink and pro-Ron Paul protesters out of the convention hall during their nominee's acceptance speech. It turns out, the Ron Paul supporter was an Iraq war veteran. It was such a nice touch for McCain to classify them as "ground noise and static."

Also, during McCain's acceptance speech, the Republicans further demonstrated how out of touch they are with America, and how far they will go to exploit things for political gain. As he spoke, they displayed a picture of Walter Reed Middle School (in North Hollywood). They thought it was Walter Reed Army Medical Center. McCain intended to use Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the idea of our injured troops for his political gain! However, McCain has become a master at using his own POW history for political gain, and he demonstrated it yet again, during his speech. It was shameful and pathetic.

McCain and Palin lied about various details concerning her record as governor. For example, she bragged during the convention that she put her predecessor's luxury jet up for auction on eBay. Yesterday, McCain applauded her action in front of supporters, but took it a step further by claiming Palin sold the jet for a profit. It turns out, while she did put it up for auction, the jet didn't sell. The state later sold it for a loss through an airplane broker. Now, the buyer is seeking $50,000 from the state for maintenance costs.

I have faith that Independents and some Republicans will take note of all the little omissions, mistakes, and lies. I believe they will vote for Barack Obama, who will lead our country out of the mess created by 8 years of Republican control in the White House, and 6 years of Republican control in the Congress. We can't survive 4 more years of McCain/Bush/Palin.

Tim Russert Must Be Rolling Over in His Anchor Seat in Heaven!

It is so ironic or maybe just palin-- I mean plain justice, that the Republicans have exactly in Sarah Palin what they falsely accused Barack Obama of.   From day one, Republicans loved to say that Barack was a "Roll of the Dice" a "Celebrity"!   However, the hand of Karma is swift and the chickens have come home to roost in the guise of Sarah Palin who is the real risk and Roll of the Dice (no foreign or national experience, under ethics investigation, possible member of the AIP) and Sarah, like Britney Spears and Paris Hilton is a  Celebrity now (glosses the the covers of US Weekly, People, National Enquirer, etc.). What you Sow you shall Reap!

Maverick McCain who truly loves to gamble, loves Las Vegas, just risked the safety and welfare of this nation with his risky, roll of the dice VP pick, Sarah Palin.  However, this is not Las Vegas or Atlantic City, this the United States of America.  We cannot afford a Gambler in the White House and his first true test, Sarah Palin, is not even ready to go on Meet the Press (her first true test)! Tim Russert must be rolling around in his anchor seat in heaven.

By the way, it seems that our Republican Vice Presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, who could be a heartbeat away from the Presidency seems, to have switched colleges at least six times in six years.

McCain won the convention bounce

Those who know me or have read my previous comments know that I am two things.

  1. Absolutely for Obama
  2. Not inclined to electoral panic.

But I must say that, relatively speaking, and taking all factors into account, McCain won the convention bounce.

For my admittedly convoluted reasoning, follow me after the jump.

Inre: The Cowardly Capitulation of Congress to Dub's Precious Immunity Clause

Just a poser or 3 for ALL wishing to be elected...

"Would you please explain your vote (or future intentions) on giving "telecoms" immunity for past crimes; in light of their culpability, gullibility, and collusion inregards to breaking the law and violating our civil rights?"

And;
"Now that they have their precious "GET OUTTA JAIL FREE" cards "punched" without fear of retribution; do you feel that Congress should DEMAND the telecoms, and any other entities involved, be REQUIRED to ALLOCUTE to any CRIMES committed by them, and/or the people that REQUESTED their collusion, regarding any infringement foisted upon Americans (and international associates), and their intrinsic Right to Privacy?"

Monday, September 8th, 2008 may very well turn out to be an even greater and more tragic milestone in our country's history than Tuesday, September 11th, 2001.

As the diarist "auronrenouille" recently noted, in their diary: "The Nationalization of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac", this is when the U.S. government will formally announce that they're (re-)taking over those two entities.

The MSM is just getting into this story, and you'll be hearing about this in much greater detail starting tomorrow: "U.S. Rescue Seen At Hand for 2 Mortgage Giants." But, most of us won't get the whole story...because it's far worse than the spin...which is what we've been hearing all along...and what we'll continue to hear as of this weekend and going forward...

Wes Clark and McCain's POW status comments

Remember when Wes Clark made comments in response to an interviewer's direct comments about McCain's POW status being a factor in his suitability in becoming president?

One of the criticisms directed at Clark was that McCain didn't use his POW to sell his presidency possibility. Well, McCain himself seems to have spent a considerable amount of time pimping his POW experiences at the convention during his speech. Now, normally I would find it acceptable. But not after the sanctimonious responses from his camp during the Wes Clark controversy.

And even worse moment was when McCain made a snide comment about which candidate had the scars to live with.

obama owes Wes Clark an apology for not standing up to him enough when Clark was taking down McCain about whether POW status alone means a thing when it comes to voting for Presidency.

The Theology of a Mad (Wo)Man

"I kill for God."

Those words were spoken by a killer from Washington D.C. this week. But he wasn't the only one to espouse the theological belief that God desires that some people kill some other people. We also heard that from a politician this week.

I'm a pastor.  I love theology, philosophy, and spirituality.  These things are important to me.  They are more important than politics, government, or a particular politician.  For this very reason, I want my faith far from America's politics.  I've seen throughout history (recent and ancient) the problems that can be wrought on both parties when the line between faith and government is blurred.

That is why I am particularly troubled by the intersection of two recent news stories.  They involve the interconnection of faith and politics.

Today Fox had a headline story about a man who believed that God was telling him to kill.  It got me thinking.  More after the fold...
